Emily Mackie
Owner & Principal Designer
A Texas native, Emily grew up surrounded by beautiful things and whimsical environments curated by a father who knew no bounds when creating the family home (including transforming their dining room into a tropical bird sanctuary and their basement into a video arcade). Drawing inspiration from this infusion of fun and fantasy into the everyday, Emily found her way to Chicago and launched Inspired Interiors, her own luxury design firm, in 2004.
Emily’s irreverent and experiential approach to design is her hallmark — she collaborates closely with her clients to truly understand not only their needs but also their interests and desires and has the vision to bring them to life. These partnerships result in residences that are a true reflection of their owners. Her singular perspective and synergistic methods have earned Emily distinctions in such prominent publications as Forbes, Apartment Therapy, Design Milk, the Chicago Tribune, Crain’s Chicago Business, and Professional Remodeler. Notable recognitions include the Global Architecture + Design Awards and a six-time winner of the American Society of Interior Designers Illinois Chapter Design Excellence Awards.

In 2020, Emily extended her Inspired brand to include Inspired Luxury Homes, a custom home building company that utilizes innovative 3D technology to tailor-fit residences to her clients’ specifications prior to construction. She believes that by allowing people to explore the full realm of design possibilities they can have in a residence, they are free to dream bigger than ever before. And as a female-led company in a traditionally male-dominated industry, Inspired Luxury Homes brings an unparalleled perspective to the custom home building experience.
By building her firm and her team, Mackie has created a work environment where women can realize their professional aspirations. As a woman in the real estate development industry, she is a trailblazer carving a new path for more female entrepreneurs to follow.
